Language for Wills & Tax ID

WMHT is a is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization.

Donors who wish to make bequests or beneficiary designations in support of WMHT should use the following legal name:

Your attorney may want to include this number in your will or trust to help your executor facilitate your bequest.

Please share the following suggested language with your attorney as you prepare or revise your Last Will and Testament.

I. A residual bequest grants the residue, or portion of the residue, of your estate to WMHT after explicit bequests have been made;

"I give to WMHT Educational Telecommunications, Inc., a non-profit organization located at 4 Global View, Troy, New York 12180, all (or ____ %) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, for its general purposes."

II. A specific bequest of a stated dollar amount or specific securities;

"I give to WMHT Educational Telecommunications, Inc., a non-profit organization located at 4 Global View, Troy, New York 12180, the sum of ____ dollars (or describe the specific property or security you intend to give) for its general purposes."

III. A contingent bequest in case one or more of your bequests cannot be fulfilled;

"If any of the above-named beneficiaries should predecease me, I hereby give his/her share of my estate to WMHT Educational Telecommunications, Inc., a non-profit organization located at 4 Global View, Troy, New York 12180, for its general purposes."

Codicil to Last Will and Testament

If your estate plans are up to date, you can simply draft a short codicil, or amendment, to the existing document, using this or similar language:

"I hereby amend my Last Will and Testament, executed on the Xth day of Month in the year 20__. I direct that all provisions of that Will remain in effect but in addition direct that WMHT Educational Telecommunications, a non-profit institution in Troy, New York, shall receive the sum of ______ dollars to be used to for its general purposes."

Gift Restrictions

If your bequest is restricted for a particular purpose, we ask that speak with us in advance and that you incorporate the following clause to accommodate changes over time in the needs of WMHT:

"In the event that such use shall, in the judgment of the President of WMHT Educational Telecommunications, become unnecessary or impracticable, I direct that my gift shall be devoted to such purposes as the President, in his or her sole discretion, shall determine, keeping such use as close to my intent as possible."
